The sister piece to the vase with the same name. Striking and unique, brushes of lava glaze mix up with the matte background, all over a red clay. A centrepiece for sure.
"Waves on the surface of the moon" was built by hand, pinched from a ball of clay. Once it survived the first firing at 960C, I glazed it first with my white matte glaze, then I applied a few random brush strokes of my lava glaze.
Another two days in the kiln, reaching 1240C, and the minerals in the glaze melted and fused with the clay to create this unique beauty.
The bowl is functional and measures 11cm in diameter and ca 9 cm in height.
Due to the nature of the glaze on the outside, this bowl should not be put in the dishwasher, oven or microwave.
All the glazes are formulated and made by me and tested for food safety in accordance with the law.
