Small bowl in Snowfall with oxide - Tundra series
A handmade wheel thrown small bowl made with grey clay and glazed in my white matte glaze. I then applied thin lines of oxide wash to create an effect reminiscent of a line of trees in a snow blizzard. Each piece from this series, which I called "Tundra" is unique as there is no way of predicting how the heat of the kiln will impact the way the oxide melts.
This glaze and clay combination is special: the glaze creates many small crystals on the surface of the cup and gives the piece a beautiful opalescent look. It reminds me of heavy snowfall in the mountains, when you can only make up the silhouette of shapes in the distance.
The bowl is one-of-a-kind.
Measurements: 9,5 cm in diameter and 5 cm high
My pieces can be washed in the dishwasher and are microwave safe. I formulate and make my own glazes. All pieces are made by hand and small imperfections or variations are normal.
